NFL Draft

A very interesting mock. He has Kindle-LB and Everson Griffen-DE falling to round two. He has Geno Atkins and Ben Tate moving up to round two. Jon Dwyer is "free falling" while Jevan Snead, who was terrible last season, goes in round three. A very good read.

An F in bracketology

My Sunday column. From The Summerville News.

Auburn's pursuit of Tubby Smith shows school is serious about competing.

MLB

Bill James talks defense. Interesting.

Urban Meyer is a putz

New rules for covering the Gators. Here's the video of the tough guy in action. Meyer's man love for Tebow knows no boundaries.

NFL Draft

Don Banks looks at the increase in pot use among top potential picks. Logically, could one make the case that players who smoke a little reefer are better than their less hip peers.

NFL Draft 2

Georgia linebacker Rennie Curran makes the makes the most of his pro day workout. Georgia fans know Curran was a tackling machine and a team leader. His lack of big time size is the only drawback. A good story from the Macon Telegraph.

NFL Draft

Georgia's Jeff Owens draws interest from 3-4 and 4-3 teams. Combine workouts and pro day success are paying off for the Georgian. Tape from his freshman year will sell him better than his more recent film, though he made some nice plays this year.

NFL Draft

Is Thomas the best prospect of Tech's Gang of Four? He's claiming a 4.38 40, which I doubt, and the last time I saw him on the field he was dropping the biggest pass of the season. But a lot of pro teams love his size and blocking ability, something a lot of college receivers show no interest in developing.

NFL Draft

Wes O'Donnell of the LA Times rates the last 25 NFL draft number one picks. Hey, Keyshawn is at no. 6 and of course O'Donnell takes a dump on Jeff George, who was not a bust, just a whiny bitch. Mike Vick is overrated but I was glad to see Orlando Pace get his due.

NFL

Ravens make best moves in free agency. The Falcons signing of Dunta Robinson was a top 10 move, but writer Jason Cole reports that some folks think Robinson will take the money and go back to sleep.

MLB

Very good baseball stuff even if we do have to relive the Texeria trade. From ESPN.

My column from The Summerville News

Canadians don't make great villains. I like this one.

Remerton hijinks bring back memories

Mettenberger arrested. The kid may be guiltier than OJ Simpson but based on my experiences in Remerton, I hope he gets away with it. The stories I could tell you. That little burg exists for two reasons, to sell beer to young people and bust people for DUI.

Falcons

Healthy, not always the case, Dunta Robinson is a fine corner. He is a major upgrade over any of last year's starters. His signing by the Falcons will allow them to take those top two draft picks and use them for a DE (Griffen?), a lineman (Iupati or Campbell) or an upgrade at WR (Tate or Benn).

NFL Draft

A very good column by Len Pasquarelli on the abundance of 3-4 end types in this draft class. You wonder how much money Brandon Deaderick made himself with that hit on Colt McCoy. (On second reading, he should have mentioned more of the 3-4 types he's talking about.)

A lesson in 'team building'

My old pal Chris "Fatso" Beckham forwarded me this ditty concerning the journalistic adventures of Texas A&M coach Guy MOrriss and His Merry Pranksters. Morris joins a long line of former Valdosta State University coaches qualifying for the title of Mr. Numb Nuts.

NFL Draft 2

A pretty good article on tackle possibilities.

Reds

Don't be surprised when Putin himself suits up in 2014. The Russkies aren't happy with their Olympic performance and heads are going to roll -- hopefully not literally -- in that nation's sports establishment. The only question is how many sports will Putin be able to compete in.

MLB

Baseball America's top 100 prospects. I count 4 Braves farmhands and a couple we traded away.

NFL Draft

Don Banks looks at the combine. Jacoby Ford to the Raiders? Hahahaha. Good one.
